Sunita Mutha, MD
Sunita Mutha, MD, is Professor of Medicine in Division of General Internal Medicine, Associate Dean for Academic Affairs in the School of Dentistry and directs Healthforce Center at UCSF. Healthforce Center is a nationally recognized resource for health workforce research and policy analysis and experiential leadership programs that develop and connect leaders to work collectively to deliver equitable care. Dr. Mutha’s scholarly work has focused on overcoming language barriers in health, cultural competence training for clinicians, and improvement interventions to address disparities in care. She has served on national committees including the Joint Commission’s Expert Advisory Panel guiding the development of hospital standards for culturally competent patient-centered care, the National Quality Forum’s Cultural Competence Steering Committee, and is currently serving on an expert advisory committee to develop a scorecard to measure the implementation of high-quality primary care and inform national and state policy. She has previously served on the board of directors for Brown and Toland Medical Group, a comprehensive, multi-specialty independent practice association in the Bay Area, and is a member of the board of directors of Insure the Uninsured Project, a non-profit that promotes innovative and workable policy solutions that expand health care access and improve the health of all Californians.
