IHPS Health Policy Grand Rounds
Benjamin A. Barsky, J.D., Ph.D., is an Associate Professor of Law at UC Law San Francisco, formerly UC Hastings, where he teaches courses on criminal law and health law. His research broadly focuses on the relationship between health, inequality, and law — a domain he studies using different social scientific methodologies, both qualitative and quantitative. Of late, his work has investigated the U.S. health system’s enmeshment with criminal enforcement institutions — with a focus on policing, jail and prison health service delivery, and controlled substance law and policy. He holds a Master of Bioethics from the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, a J.D. from the University of Pennsylvania Carey School of Law, and a Ph.D. in Health Policy from Harvard University.
