Overview
Dr. Gabriel L. Schwartz is a social epidemiologist and postdoctoral fellow at the Institute for Health Policy Studies. Gabriel works with Dr. Rita Hamad in the Social Policies for Health Equity Research Program (SPHERE), where he is leveraging natural experiments to investigate the impact of school segregation on child and young adult health. Other projects examine how social policy, social stratification, and place contribute to health inequities across the life course, with a particular focus on eviction and policing.

Before his doctoral program, Dr. Schwartz worked as a policy evaluator at Abt Associates, testing the efficacy of government and non-profit nutrition, education, and housing programs.
