Overview
Jason Nagata, M.D., M.Sc. is an Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine at the University of California San Francisco and affiliated faculty with the Institute for Health Policy Studies and the Institute for Global Health Sciences. He is Co-Founder of the International Association for Adolescent Health Young Professionals Network. He is an expert in eating disorders, particularly in boys and men, and youth screen time and digital media use. His other research interests include adolescent and young adult muscle-building substance use, physical activity, food security, nutrition, cardiovascular disease, HIV, and LGBTQ+ health. He has published over 500 articles in academic journals including The Lancet, the Journal of the American Medical Association, and Pediatrics. His research has been covered by the New York Times, NPR, NBC, ABC, CBS, and CNN. He serves as Senior Editor for the Journal of Eating Disorders, on the International Advisory Board of The Lancet Child & Adolescent Health, and the Editorial Board of the Journal of Adolescent Health. He is a Commissioner for the Lancet Commission on Adolescent Health and Wellbeing.
