Jeffrey Kang, MD, MPH

Overview

Jeffrey Kang, MD, MPH, has over 35 years of progressive, health care experience in four major areas - primary care, commercial health insurance, retail healthcare, and government. First, for his primary care background, Dr. Kang is a geriatrician and has led successful, full-risk primary care practices for Pacificare/Secure Horizon, EverCare (a nursing home population), PACE (Program for All-inclusive Care for the Elderly – a home bound population) and, most recently, ChenMed, providing concierge level, primary care from low to moderate incomes, Medicare Advantage beneficiaries. Second, for his health insurance background, he was Chief Medical Officer for Cigna, responsible for the clinical policy for its medical, pharmacy and behavioral products and launching its medical home and accountable care initiatives. Third, for his retail healthcare background, Dr. Kang was SVP for Walgreens, responsible for its emerging health care businesses including retail clinics, worksite clinics, ACO’s, hospital pharmacies and PBM. Finally, and fourth, for his government background, he served as the very first Chief Clinical Officer for the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS), responsible for the agency’s quality measurement and improvement efforts, its healthcare regulations, and its coverage decisions for both Medicaid and Medicare.

 

Dr. Kang is currently the founding CEO of WellBe Senior Medical, an innovative health care platform providing concierge, team-based, geriatric care to the frail, poly-chronic, elderly Medicare Advantage beneficiary on a global capitated basis. In addition, he serves on the Board of Directors of the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA), ChenMed, and Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Minnesota and on the Advisory Board of the Center for Health Incentives and Behavioral Economics (CHIBE).
