Industry Influences on Health
IHPS researchers have studied industry influences on health research. This work provides evidence to guide policy decisions to elucidate and make others aware of the (sometimes hidden) strategies and approaches used by the private sector to promote products and choices that are detrimental to health.
Health outcomes are impacted by the influence of corporate activities on the social environment in which people live and work: namely the availability, cultural desirability, and prices of unhealthy products. IHPS is a founding partner in the UCSF Industry Documents Library which makes available over one million industry documents created by the tobacco, chemical, drug, food and fossil fuel industries that influence public health.
