IHPS Grand Rounds: Applying systems thinking in health policy research: examples from obesity politics and healthcare's administrative burden
Luc Hagenaars, PhD is a postdoc researcher in health political science. He applies theories of the policy process in real-world case studies of policy development, primarily in the field of obesity, and combines that with methods from the complexity sciences such as Causal Loop and Stock-and-Flow Diagrams. Luc will be working and living in the Bay Area for one year after securing a Commonwealth Fund Harkness Fellowship in Health Care Policy and Practice. His home base is the Netherlands. Before his fellowship, Luc lived in The Hague and worked at Amsterdam University Medical Center. He conducted his PhD on soda tax policy processes and administrative costs in healthcare at Radboud University, whilst simultaneously working as a policymaker himself at the Dutch Ministry of Health.
